Discipleship & Prayer

It’s important that we continue to ‘gather’ for worship but equally important that we continue to explore, grow, and deepen in our walk with Jesus each day. Here you will find Bible studies, prayers, videos, music, creative activities, reminders to pray for people around the world, and other resources aimed to help us deepen and mature in our Christian faith. We hope too that we will have opportunity to think, talk and pray together about our Christian faith in relation to the changing landscape of our world.

Our ‘Connect Daily: Thought for the Day’ is emailed daily and posted on Facebook. They’re also available below in case you missed any. Contact one of the Pastoral Team if you would like to receive these daily emails or if you have prayer requests.

Loving, ever-living and compassionate God,
You understand the pain of loss, the heartache of bereavement,
May we hold in our hearts all those whose families or friends have died.
You are a light that shines in the darkest times,
Guide us and heal us in our sickness and sorrow.
You comfort us in times of fear,
May we comfort each other, even as we keep apart.
You console and lead us in times of doubt and confusion,
May we follow the light of your love and spread hope.
You move our hearts to acts of generosity,
May we be led to share what we have with those in need.
God of life,
We thank you for the signs of your light in the midst of our darkness,
May we be signs of your compassion in the heart of your world.
Amen.

Call to Prayer and Fasting for Change

Right now, our prayers rise up in sorrow over the grievous disregard for Black lives in these most recent deaths reported on our news-screens and those that have come before (May/June 2020).

This pain and injustice is not what God desires. Because of our deep sorrow for the way things are, and our profound hope in God’s faithfulness to bring about a more just and loving world, the Board of General Superintendents calls the global Nazarene family to a Day of Prayer and Fasting on Sunday, June 7th, 2020.

You can read more about this at https://nazarene.org/article/call-prayer-and-fasting-change and also a personal confession regarding race written by one of the district superintendents in the USA.

All are welcome to join in prayer for the healing of the world according to God’s vision for reconciliation, justice, unity, and holy love.

Palm Sunday Door Branches: What if everyone on Sunday April 5th in the morning, puts a branch on the door of their house or on the window, to celebrate Palm Sunday? This could be any green branch (or even made from paper). We may be physically isolated, but what a good way to be connected as we enter into the Holiest of Weeks. For ideas Click Here

Praying for our world
Jesus is the Light of the World

Below are some image from Thursday March 19th as people around the UK placed a candle in their windows, symbolic of Jesus’ light and presence in our world as we prayed. You can see the prayer and some of our lights in the slide show below.
